coronavirus cdc

October 23, 2021 - Following the U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) recent action that authorized a booster shot of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines for certain populations and a recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is reminding eligible consumers that coverage is available under Medicare, Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and in the commercial health insurance market for this critical protection from the virus, including booster shots from all three manufacturers, without cost sharing.

Beneficiaries with Medicare pay nothing for COVID-19 vaccines or their administration, and there is no applicable copayment, coinsurance or deductible. In addition, thanks to the American Rescue Plan (ARP), nearly all Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) beneficiaries must receive coverage of COVID-19 vaccines and their administration, without cost-sharing. COVID-19 vaccines and their administration, including booster shots, will also be covered without cost-sharing for eligible consumers of health insurance in the commercial market.
