October 27, 2021 - On the evening of Tuesday, October 26 (10/26/2021) shortly after 9:00 P.M., Madera County Sheriff's Office Deputy Pursell and Corporal Roth made a motorcycle vehicle stop while on routine patrol on Highway 41 in the downtown area of Oakhurst.
The driver, 31-year-old James Burgess of Oakhurst, was later determined to be on active felony probation in Madera County for possession of stolen property. While conducting a probation search, deputies located a loaded unregistered pistol, ammunition, narcotics, and evidence of sales of narcotics on his person.
Burgess was arrested and booked into the Madera County Jail for multiple felony charges including violation of probation, Felon in possession of a firearm, and Felon in possession of ammunition, as well as misdemeanor charges including possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of Methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
