MPD theft

October 27, 2021 - Merced – On October 26, 2021, Detectives with the Merced Police Department along with members of the Stanislaus County Auto-Theft Task Force conducted a compliance check at Fat Cat Recycling located at 371 S. Highway 59 in the unincorporated area of Merced, CA. Detectives located a large amount of stolen property, including a stolen dump-truck, valued at $104,000.00 along with a flatbed trailer, a Case forklift and an air compressor that was stolen. There were also several catalytic converters located at the business. The total value of stolen property recovered from the business was over $200,000.00.

Subsequently the owner, 40-year-old Carl Means was arrested and booked into the Merced County Jail for possession of stolen property and possession of a stolen vehicle.

We are attempting to identify the owners of the trailer and the Case forklift (pictured below). If either of these items belong to you or you have information regarding the owners, please contact Det. Lupian at 209-388-7844.
