November 18, 2021 - The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office reports patrol deputies with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department made an armed robbery arrest Wednesday night in connection with an incident which took place at the Denair Mart Liquor and Food.

On November 17, 2021, at about 6:00 p.m., a 911 call was received regarding an armed robbery in the 4700 block of Main St. in Denair.  A man later identified as 35-year-old Waterford parolee Daniel Reagan allegedly entered the store, held the clerk at gunpoint, demanded an undisclosed amount of money, and fled the area driving what was described as a bronze Chevy Blazer.  

The same car was later seen leaving a residence in the 400 block of E St in Waterford, at which point the alert deputies attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop.  A vehicle pursuit ensued wherein speeds reached approximately 80 miles per hour.  Reagan disregarded public safety by failing to yield, blowing stop signs and running through red lights.  He eventually crashed his sport utility vehicle into a ditch near the intersection of Held Road and Briggsmore Avenue in Modesto.  

Reagan was taken into custody shortly after the traffic collision.  A parole search of his residence in Waterford revealed he had been in possession of a live firearm with a tampered serial number, a replica weapon consistent with what was believed to have been used in the earlier robbery, along with cash in similar denominations to what was taken in Denair.  A syringe loaded with a substance resembling heroin was also recovered.  Reagan was also out on parole for a previous residential armed robbery conviction.  Plus, he had been out on bail for a separate and unrelated pending case.  

The suspect was booked for a host of felony charges to include evasion, armed robbery, narcotics possession, an enhancement for committing a new law violation while out on bail, a felon in possession of a firearm charge, as well as a parole violation/revocation.  He currently remains in custody at the Public Safety Center on a no-bail status.  

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.  We applaud the efforts of our patrol deputies for taking a violent convicted felon and parolee off the streets who victimized others and put our community in danger.  The Sheriff’s Office is also thankful nobody was injured during Wednesday night’s incidents.
