Northside-Pet-ConnectionFor those of you who keep track of our meetings, and from time to time attend them (you are always welcome!) please note that the NPC Board will not meet during the month of July. So, our next meeting will be Monday, August 3. We always meet at 5:00 p.m. at the Coulterville Community Center, the first Monday of the month. We adjourn no later than 6:00 p.m. We have several new members, and we hope to see them in August. We also hope to see many members at our Annual Dinner and election of the Board of Directors, to be held in the evening on Friday, September 11, 6:00 p.m., at Coulterville Community Center. There will be a few raffles, plus a members-only drawing for a two-hour flight over Yosemite in a single-engine airplane. What an adventure!

To become a member, call Carmel at (209) 878-3134.

Our ability to provide spay/neuter vouchers has grown to 30 per month. This is how the process works: to request a voucher, you call our spay/neuter coordinator, Kathleen, at (209) 732-6194; she determines whether you qualify (mainly, do you live in the 5-community NPC service area); you are mailed the voucher, which you take to one of the local veterinarians who work with us, and most of the cost of the procedure is covered. The veterinarian eventually redeems the voucher with us. As we have mentioned before, depending on the vet, almost the entire cost of the spay/ neuter is covered.

During calendar year 2014, NPC spent $3,750 to redeem vouchers. To date in 2015, the total is already $5,365! So, the process is working, but much remains to be done. Spread the word in your community. Let people know there is an easy way to have their pets spayed or neutered, and, if necessary let them know how important this is.

It is never a good idea to leave a pet alone in a car on a warm day, and we are now in the long season of HOT days, which is not a surprise for any of us. A dog, cat or other animal left in a vehicle has a very short time before dying an agonizing death. Don’t let this happen!

Thanks for your support of Northside Pet Connection and its important work in our communities.
