December 22, 2021 - The Madera County Sheriff's Office reports on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, the Madera Narcotic Enforcement Team (MADNET) and Madera County Sheriff’s Problem Oriented Policing team served a search warrant in the 200 block of Williams Avenue in the City of Madera following a tip regarding counterfeit prescription pills that contained fentanyl being sold out of that location.

During a search of the residence, MADNET Detectives seized 59 pills believed to contain fentanyl, an unregistered handgun, a “sawed off” shotgun, and two AR-15 style pistols, as well as several hundred rounds of live ammunition. The homeowner, Raymond Angel Torrez,22,  was arrested for being in possession of pills for sale, felon in possession of firearms and ammunition, and for violating the terms/conditions of Probation.

The pills that were seized (pictured below), are off blue in color and marked as “Oxycodone Hydrochloride 30mg.” The pills have an imprint of the letter “M” inside a square on one side and the number “30” above a horizontal line on the opposite side. Often, these pills are counterfeit prescription pills that contain fentanyl, making them very dangerous and sometimes fatal to those that ingest them. One pill can sometimes be enough for a deadly fentanyl overdose.
