January 2, 2022 - Police officer Brett Schneider suddenly found himself looking into the piercing eyes of a powerful bull, and he knew immediately he had to act.
Schneider, of Lincoln, reached for his camera. He squared up on the giant animal as it glared at him from a neighbor's ranch.
His camera shutter clicked, and the bull froze in time, its dramatic features captured in a searing photograph, which Schneider later processed into black and white.
Schneider's deft photography skills earned him the Grand Prize—and $1,000—in the 40th annual California Farm Bureau Photo Contest.
