January 2, 2022 - Merced – On January 1, Merced Police Gang Officer Tevon Prevostini was driving in the 2100 block of ‘H’ Street when he observed a black Honda Civic fail to stop at a stop sign. Officer Prevostini merced police departmentthen observed the driver, later identified as Alfonso Robledo,53, fail to stop at a red light. Office Prevostini attempted a traffic stop at which time Mr. Robledo attempted to drive off at a high rate of speed.

Officers chased him through the city and into the county before taking him into custody in the 2300 block of Glen Avenue.

Mr. Robledo is on parole, a registered sex offender, and had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest.

A search of the vehicle revealed a catalytic converter which had been cut off an unknown vehicle and numerous aluminum radiators.

He was taken to the Merced County Jail where he was booked for his felony warrant and felony evading.
