January 8, 2022 - Merced – On January 6, 2022, at approximately 12:29 P.M., Merced PD Officers responded to the 800 block of West Santa Fe Avenue in the city of Merced for a fight in progress. A MPD Badilloman was struck with a vehicle during the fight and the driver of the vehicle fled before officers arrived on scene. The victim had moderate injuries and was transported to a regional trauma center.

Detectives responded to assist with the investigation. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Devin Jacob Badillo (24) of Winton. It was determined that Badillo intentionally struck the victim with his vehicle. Badillo was apprehended at his residence by Detectives and Gang Violence Suppression Unit Officers. Badillo was booked into the Merced County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
