January 10, 2022 – Merced – Merced Police officers arrested Yenny Leyva (20) for strong-arm robbery.

On Monday, January 10, 2022, at 2:33 A.M., officers responded to the 1400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way for a strong-arm robbery that just occurred. The 28-year-old victim was riding his bike when he MPD Leyvawas suddenly attacked by a Hispanic male and female. The victim was struck over the back of his head with a hard object and his bicycle was stolen.

Officer Jacob Paynter contacted Leyva riding a bicycle near the unit block of W. 16th Street. Leyva was in possession of the bicycle that was stolen from the victim. Leyva was positively identified as one of the suspects.

Leyva was arrested and booked into custody at the Merced County Jail. At this time, the identity of the male suspect is unknown. The victim was unable to provide a clothing description of that individual.

The victim did not sustain any serious injuries but was transported to a medical center as a precaution.
