January 12, 2022 – Merced – On January 11, 2022, at 10:17 A.M., Merced Police responded to Mercy Hospital in the city of Merced for a call about suspected child abuse. A toddler was being treated at the MPD child abuse suspecthospital for various injuries to include bone fractures. It was determined by medical personnel that the injuries were consistent with abuse rather than accidental.

Detectives responded to assist with the investigation. A search warrant was served this morning at the alleged location where the injuries occurred. An interview was conducted with the mother of the child who was identified as Kacielyn Lumanog Haines (19) of Merced.

Haines was arrested and booked into the Merced County Jail for assault likely to produce great bodily injury and great bodily harm to a child.
