Oakhurst, Calif., June 21, 2015 — The current Red Cross shelter at the Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church, 39696 Hwy 41, Oakhurst, CA 93644 is staying open to assist families being evacuated due to the Red Fire.

american red crossThe shelter which was originally opened on Thursday to support residents impacted by the Sky and Corrine Fires, is ready to take in additional evacuees from the Red Fire. The EV Free shelter site closed earlier today due to a decreased shelter population, but the Red Cross is prepared to open additional shelter sites if needed.

“It’s fortunate that our disaster team is already on site and ready to take in these families,” said Communications Director Jessica Piffero, “Our operation was ramping down due to the other fire containments, but we’re fully prepared to respond to the Red Fire and help these residents.”
