February 1, 2022 - The National Weather Service Hanford Office reports a Freeze Warning is in effect for the San Joaquin Valley, outside of major urban areas, each night and early morning from Tonight/Wednesday morning until Thursday night/Friday morning.
Be prepared to bring pets indoors and cover sensitive, exposed vegetation, and outdoor plumbing.

URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Hanford CA 1057 AM PST Tue Feb 1 2022 Los Banos - Dos Palos-Merced - Madera - Mendota- West Side of Fresno and Kings Counties-Caruthers - San Joaquin - Selma-Buttonwillow - Lost Hills - I5- Including the cities of Los Banos, Merced, Madera, Atwater, Lemoore Station, Five Points, Kettleman City, Selma, Sanger, Parlier, Kingsburg, Kerman, Lost Hills, and Buttonwillow 1057 AM PST Tue Feb 1 2022 ...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM PST THIS AFTERNOON... ...FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM WEDNESDAY TO 8 AM PST FRIDAY... * WHAT...For the Wind Advisory, northwest winds 15 to 25 mph, with gusts near 35 mph. For the Freeze Warning, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 expected. * WHERE...For the Wind Advisory, areas affected include the west side of the valley. The Freeze Warning includes a majority of the San Joaquin Valley, excluding Fresno and Bakersfield. * WHEN...For the Wind Advisory, until 1 PM PST this afternoon. For the Freeze Warning, from 6 AM Wednesday to 8 AM PST Friday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...For the Wind Advisory, highways affected include, but are not limited to Interstate 5, Highway 33, Highway 180 west of Fresno, and Highway 152 through Pacheco Pass. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above- ground pipes to protect them from freezing.Source: NWS
