February 1, 2022 - On Sunday, January 30^th at 4:30 A.M. multiple suspects were seen attempting to burglarize Coast Hardware Store in Mariposa. The suspects were able to break the glass display windows and removed several items from the front of the store before being scared off by a passing vehicle. The driver of that passing vehicle called 911 to report suspicious activity. Within minutes Mariposa County Sheriff’s Deputies were in the area, however the vehicle and its occupants had already left the area.

The following hours Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies and Detectives combed through evidence left at the scene as well as reviewing security camera footage from the area. The security cameras were able to clearly show the vehicle license plate and on Monday, January 31^st, a search warrant was served on a home in Planada. Several items connected to the Coast Hardware burglary were located and Jesus Moreno (43) of Planada was taken into custody. Moreno had 2 outstanding warrants from Mariposa County at the time of his arrest.

A second search warrant was served in the Le Grand area where additional items connected to Coast Hardware were located and Anna Orozco (36) of Le Grand was taken into custody.

This is the second burglary of Coast Hardware in the last 6 months. Detectives are continuing to work both cases and identify additional suspects.
