February 3, 2022 - Merced – The Merced Police Department reports on Monday, January 31, 2022, Merced P.D. Officers responded to the 1500 block of La Mirada Dr. in the city of Merced for a report of shots fired. Officers arrived on scene and located a male suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Merced P.D. Detectives were called out to investigate. Detectives identified Brendan Briggs,22, of Lockeford, Franky Moreno,18, of Atwater, and Tanya Moreno,30, of Merced as suspects in this investigation.

Detectives apprehended Mr. Briggs the following day. He was found to be in possession of a firearm at the time of his arrest. Brendan Briggs was booked into Merced County Jail for various charges including attempted homicide and gang enhancements. Warrants have been issued for Franky Moreno and Tanya Moreno who remain outstanding.
