February 4, 2022 - Our January COVID-19 data is staggering. We do know there are many cases this data does not reflect as not all home tests were reported, but today we are sharing some highlights of the reported COVID-19 cases for last month.
January 2022 was by far the busiest COVID-19 case month our community has faced. 911 total cases were reported in the month alone. For comparison, it took us the first 18 months of the pandemic to record a total of 911 cases.
By far, the age group with the largest number of cases was 12 to 17-year-olds with 160 total cases. Other age groups with high numbers include 30 - 39 years old with 131 cases,18 - 29 years old with 121 cases, and 50 - 59 years old with 115 cases.
We do have some hospitalization data, however, due to the strains on both our case investigations and hospitals, we expect there are unreported hospitalizations this data is not reflecting. We confirmed 8 hospitalizations in community members ranging from 28 to 84 years old. 6 of those remain hospitalized, 1 has recovered, and 2 died.
But we do want to leave you with some good news this Friday - case rates are decreasing! We are starting to see a reduction in the cases each day and hope to soon see those decreases in hospitalizations and deaths.
We do ask that you stay vigilant to help these downward trends continue. Have a safe and happy weekend!
