This year’s Fourth of July celebration on Bass Lake welcomes a new kind of show!

After dark, laser lights will illuminate the skies over Bass Lake in a spectacular display of bright colors and unique designs all choreographed to fun summer jams.  A professional DJ will be afloat in the middle of the lake, radiating the music in each direction for all to hear and enjoy the choreographed piece.

Though the Fourth of July fireworks display has been a long running tradition at Bass Lake, the Bass Lake Chamber feels that it is extremely important to not put our forests and neighbors at risk during this unusually dry season.  For that reason, a spectacular Laser Light Show on the water has been planned for this year.

“There is no replacement for the fireworks show,” said Michelle Miller, Secretary of the Bass Lake Chamber.  “But we believe the Laser Light Show will be a fun and unique alternative, and a great option considering the current fire risks.”

After concerns were expressed regarding the high fire risks this year, the Bass Lake Chamber quickly came up with this creative alternative. Given further thought, they liked the idea of avoiding the risk all together and opted for the Laser Light Show.  Their biggest concern is to be sensitive to the Bass Lake community and to make sure everyone can feel safe and enjoy this year’s Fourth of July celebrations.

In addition, the Bass Lake Chamber also sees this as a great opportunity to simultaneously create new traditions and revive old ones – including bringing new life to the “Boat Parade.”  The parade will begin near the entrance of Willow Cove. Starting at 7 p.m. decorated boats will parade their way towards The Pines Resort, then loop around near The Forks Resort and head back towards the dam. Judging will take place in front of Miller’s Landing Marina between 7:30 and 8 p.m. Fun prizes will be awarded following the judging.

Following the Boat Parade, guests will enjoy music beats to a live DJ while the Laser Light Show is prepared to debut.  Enjoy the classics and sing along as the DJ rocks the boats and beaches. Bring your beach ball and be ready to dance!

The Laser Light show will start at Bass Lake at approximately 9:15 p.m. and will last 20 minutes. The show will be viewable from The Pines Resort down towards the falls to The Forks Resort and you can watch from either side of the lake.  There is no fee to attend the light show.

To register for the Boat Parade call Michelle at: 559-642-3633.  There is no fee to participate in the boat parade.

Remember that ALL fireworks are prohibited at Bass Lake and all of the surrounding mountain areas. Let’s keep our community fire safe together!
