Thursday Evening Update: Mandatory evacuations have been lifted in the fire area however a portion of Sky Ranch Road within the fire area remains closed for firefighter safety.
June 25, 2015 - Update: 9:10 A.M. - The Sky Fire near Oakhurst is now 95% contained and still remains at 500 acres.
At this time Sky Ranch road is still closed and the Sierra National Forest is looking into opening at the early part of next week. Forest Order 15-15-05 states that Sky Ranch road is closed from road 6S11, which can be considered the northern boundary of the closure and the southern boundary is where private land becomes public land.
A Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) Team for the Sky and Corrine Fire is working to complete its assessment and recommendations to lessen immediate hazards to public resources from effects of the fire. The team is led by geologist Alan Gallegos from the Sierra National Forest.
The Sky Fire is now being managed by the Sierra National Forest Type 3 management organization since Wednesday morning at 6:00 AM.
