February 20, 2022 - The National Weather Service Hanford Office reports a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Mariposa, Madera, and northern Fresno County portions of the Sierra Nevada from 4:00 P.M. Monday afternoon until 4:00 P.M. Wednesday afternoon.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow may cause travel difficulties.

Winds will gust as high as 40 mph.

Motorists should be prepared for slick road conditions and potential travel delays.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM MONDAY TO 4 PM PST
WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches.
  Localized snow amounts of 9 to 12 inches will be possible in the
  highest elevations. Westerly winds will gust as high as 40 mph.

* WHERE...Mariposa-Madera Lower Sierra, Yosemite NP outside of
  the valley, Yosemite Valley, San Joaquin River Canyon and
  Upper San Joaquin River.

* WHEN...From 4 PM Monday to 4 PM PST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous
  conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Winds
  will also be gusty with gusts to 40 mph. Winds coupled with the
  cold temperatures will also create dangerous wind chills. Early
  season campers and hikers should be prepared for a return to
  winter conditions. Tree limbs and branches could
  be blown down and cause power outages.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Slow down and use caution while traveling. Allow more time for
travel.

Be sure to carry chains/cables inside vehicle.
