March 2, 2022 - Merced – On October 30, 2021, at 11:13 P.M., Merced Police Officers responded to the 100 block of East Main Street in the city of Merced for a 
report of shots fired. Responding officers went to a residence on East Main Street and located two gunshot victims. One of the victims got transported to a regional trauma center. The other victim, Christina Velez (33) of Merced, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Detectives identified Emari Lee Prescott (22) of Vallejo, Travis Lavell Rucks (20) of Vallejo and Jeremiah Marquis Macias Lacy (24) of Vallejo, as suspects in this murder. Prescott was arrested on October 31, 2021, after he sought out medical treatment for a gunshot wound. Prescott remains in custody at the Merced County Jail. Warrants were issued for Jeremiah Lacy and Travis Rucks who went on the run.
On March 1, 2022, Travis Rucks was spotted at a gas station by a patrol officer in the city of San Pablo. The officer contacted Rucks who provided a false name. The officer was already aware who Rucks was and that Rucks was wanted for Murder. Rucks was taken into custody and booked into the Contra Costa County Jail. Rucks will be transported to the Merced County Jail.
Jeremiah Lacy remains on the run. His last know location was in the city of Vallejo. Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance with locating Lacy who is considered armed and dangerous.
