March 19, 2022 - Merced – The Merced Police Department reports Merced PD Gang Unit arrests a man in possession of methamphetamine, heroin, and a loaded firearm.

On Friday, March 18, 2022 at approximately 9:00 P.M., the Merced Police Departments Gang Violence Suppression Unit Officer Justin Saldivar contacted Jose Figueroa-Higareda (46) in the 1400 block of Yosemite Parkway. Figueroa was found to be extremely intoxicated and upon his arrest he was found to be in possession of 20 grams of Methamphetamine and ammunition.

Officers conducted a search of Figueroa’s vehicle utilizing Officer Tevon Prevostini’s K9 partner Stas. Stas alerted and located a loaded 38 special handgun in the center console. Officers also found Heroin inside of the vehicle. Figueroa was booked into the Merced County Jail for public intoxication, weapons, and narcotics violations.
