March 21, 2022 - Merced – The Merced Police Department reports on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at 9:22 P.M. Officer Laguna observed Andrew Morgan (22) in the 2200 block of K Street get out of a vehicle and enter a store in the area. He knew Morgan was a validated gang member who was on parole. Officer Laguna found numerous Xanax pills belonging to Mr. Morgan and he was taken into custody.

Officers then contacted Shane Avery (23) who was seated in the vehicle that Mr. Morgan got out of. Shane Avery too was a validated gang member who was on parole. A loaded firearm was found in the area where Mr. Avery was sitting, and he was taken into custody. Both Andrew Morgan and Shane Avery were booked into the Merced County jail.
