April 14, 2022 - The Mariposa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) reports it is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the untimely off-duty death of MCSO Deputy Michael King. Deputy King died at home on Wednesday, April 13th.

At this time his cause of death is pending an autopsy.

Deputy King has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 2006, he leaves behind his mother, Margaret King, brother Ken King, fiancé Sheila Baker, step-son Steven Baker and son, Austin.

We would like to thank the Madera County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol for assisting us with Deputy King’s final patrol.

Please keep the King family and the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office in your hearts. Rest easy Deputy King, we will take it from here.
