April 20, 2022 - WASHINGTON – Representatives Jim Costa (CA-16), who is Chairman and co-founder of the Congressional Crime Survivors and Justice Caucus, and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01), jim costa congressman california 16th districtreleased the following statement after introducing a bipartisan resolution designating April 24-30, 2022, as “National Crime Victims’ Rights Week” to recognize the outstanding efforts of over 12,000 victim organizations and emphasize the vital needs of crime survivors and victims.

“During National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, we honor crime victims, survivors, and the individuals who advocate for them each day,” said Costa. “This week is important to remember how we can improve their lives and ensure they have the support they need to heal. It remains a top priority for me to advocate for survivors and provide them with the resources they so rightfully deserve.”

“I’m pleased to join my colleague Rep. Costa in introducing this bipartisan resolution recognizing National Crime Victims' Rights Week. Congress must continue to recognize the needs of crime victims across the country and ensure that our victim service providers are equipped with the resources they need to assist survivors and victims,” said Rep. Fitzpatrick.

The 2022 NCVRW theme is “Rights, access, equity, for all victims,” which underscores the importance of enforcing victims' rights, expanding access to services, and ensuring equity and inclusion for all. (OVC.OJP)

The bipartisan Congressional Crime Survivors and Justice Caucus works alongside allied organizations to identify, address, and elevate the needs of crime survivors through legislation, education, and public awareness. It also provides resources to members of Congress to help connect crime victims with local advocates who can provide needed assistance.
