April 23, 2022 - Yosemite National Park officials report this year’s Shakespeare in Yosemite production, Love’s Labor’s Lost, is a 90-minute musical show celebrating Curry Village’s history of live performance.
The adaptation is set in 1969-70 to commemorate the first Earth Day, and is about two bands on a songwriting retreat in the park who fall in love with each other—and with a world that urgently needs protection.
Songs from the era will be sung throughout, and the script is adapted to be family friendly and easy to understand. The cast is a combination of UC Merced students and community actors, including Yosemite Hospitality’s Tonatiuh Newbold and NPS ranger Marion Roubal.
Shows will be performed in the Curry Village Amphitheater at 5:30 pm on Friday, April 22 (Earth Day), 2:00 and 5:30 pm on Saturday, April 23 (Shakespeare’s birthday), and noon on Sunday, April 24.
The show is free and no tickets are needed—just show up! Bell bottoms optional.
