April 25, 2022 - On Sunday afternoon, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an assault with a deadly weapon in the 600 block of Sutter Avenue. While stanislaus county sheriffs office logoconducting that investigation, a deceased male was found an alley near where deputies were.

At about 1:15 P.M., deputies responded to investigate an assault at the intersection of Rouse Avenue and Sutter Avenue in Modesto. Sheri Kucera, a 52-year-old Modesto resident, approached and began arguing with the victim, a 35-year-old Hispanic male who was selling fruit. During the argument, Kucera pulled a knife out and began swing it at the victim and attempting to stab him. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated by medical personnel at the scene. Kucera was booked at the Stanislaus County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.

While investigating the assault, deputies were dispatched to the report of a deceased person in the alley near the same intersection. A 56-year-old Hispanic male was located and pronounced deceased at the scene. An autopsy was conducted this morning, but his cause of death has yet to be determined. Pending lab results, there does not appear to be anything suspicious about his death. The decedent’s name is being withheld until his next of kin is notified.

The two incidents do not appear to be related.
