April 26, 2022 - The National Weather Service Hanford Office reports maximum temperatures throughout Central California this afternoon will be around five degrees lower than yesterday afternoon.

High temperatures across Central California Wednesday afternoon will be a couple of degrees cooler than this afternoon.

By Thursday afternoon, maximum temperatures throughout Central California will be about five degrees below normal for this time of year.

  .SYNOPSIS... 
  High temperatures will remain above seasonal values this  
  afternoon and Wednesday afternoon. Maximum temperatures Thursday  
  afternoon will be seven to nine degrees cooler than Wednesday  
  afternoon. Strong, gusty winds are possible in the Kern County  
  desert Thursday. A warming trend is expected Friday and Saturday.  
  Dry weather will persist for the next several days.

  .DISCUSSION... 
  A trough of low pressure will progress eastward across the Eastern 
  Pacific Ocean today. This trough of low pressure will move 
  eastward over Central California tonight. Zonal flow aloft will 
  prevail Wednesday. High temperatures this afternoon and Wednesday 
  afternoon will be two to four degrees above normal for this time 
  of year. A trough of low pressure will progress eastward through  
  the Eastern Pacific Ocean Wednesday night. This trough of low  
  pressure will move eastward over Central California Thursday. 
  Strong, gusty westerly winds are possible in the Kern County  
  desert Thursday afternoon into Thursday night. A Wind Advisory may  
  be required for the Kern County desert Thursday afternoon into  
  Thursday night. High temperatures in the San Joaquin Valley 
  Thursday afternoon will be in the mid 70s, which is about five  
  degrees below their typical values for the latter half of April.  
  Here are probabilities of maximum temperatures of 75 degrees or  
  lower for select locations in the San Joaquin Valley on Thursday,  
  April 28th, 2022:

  A ridge of high pressure will move eastward across the Western 
  United States Friday and Friday night. A cyclone aloft will be 
  centered just offshore of the Pacific Northwest Saturday. A 
  warming trend is anticipated Friday and Saturday. Maximum 
  temperatures Friday afternoon will be around five degrees warmer 
  than Thursday afternoon. High temperatures Saturday afternoon will 
  be six to eight degrees warmer than Friday afternoon. Maximum 
  temperatures Saturday afternoon will be about five degrees above 
  normal for this time of year. The aforementioned, upper-level  
  area of low pressure will weaken as it moves eastward over the  
  Pacific Northwest Saturday night and Sunday. Another cyclone aloft 
  will progress eastward over the Pacific Northwest Sunday night  
  and Monday. High temperatures Sunday afternoon and Monday  
  afternoon will remain above seasonal values. Strong, gusty  
  westerly winds are possible in the Kern County desert Sunday and  
  Monday. Dry weather will persist through the upcoming weekend.
