July 14, 2015 - Sonora, California, July 14, 2015 – The Tuolumne and Mariposa Counties Resource Advisory Committee, in conjunction with Stanislaus National Forest, is accepting grant proposals for suitable Title II projects, now through July 31st.

In order to qualify for the $92,000 in available funding, projects must meet one or more of the following purposes:

  • Provides road, trail, infrastructure maintenance;
  • Improves soil productivity;
  • Creates improvements in forest ecosystems;
  • Restores and/or maintains watersheds;
  • Creates employment opportunities;
  • Re-establishes native species;
  • Controls noxious and exotic weeds; and
  • Restores, maintains & improves wildlife and fish habitat.
If interested in submitting an electronic project proposal, you may either use the RAC website:http://www.fs.usda.gov/main/pts/specialprojects/racweb (click on the heading ‘Submit A Project Proposal’) or you may complete an abbreviated version using the Tuolumne-Mariposa RAC – Title II Project Proposal Form by clicking the application link here:http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/stanislaus/home/?cid=STELPRD3845443. All project proposals must be received by close of business on July 31. Persons submitting project proposals will be invited to attend a RAC meeting on Monday, August 31, between noon and 3 p.m., at the Sonora City Fire Department at 201 South Shepherd Street, in Sonora, CA. Those who are seeking a grant will be provided an opportunity to present their proposals at this meeting. To prepare, please review the linked material in advance.

RAC is authorized by Congress through the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act. The local RAC consists of community representatives from a variety of commodity, user groups, environmental interests and local elected officials. The RAC solicits, reviews and recommends projects to the Board of Supervisors, while working in conjunction with officials from Stanislaus National Forest for funding.
