MCHS sophomores and juniors gather on stage as they receive academic letters and bars on Achievement Night.
June 1, 2022 - On Thursday, May 26, Mariposa County High School held Achievement Night for freshmen, sophomore, and junior students. Seniors had a separate awards night on Wednesday, June 1.
One of the award categories on both nights is called Academic Letters and Bars. Starting sophomore year, academic letters for putting on sweaters, jackets, or bulletin boards are awarded to students who maintain a 3.5 or greater grade point average throughout the year. In subsequent years, students who were awarded letters are then eligible to earn bars to add to the letters.
The MCHS Academic Boosters Club sponsors the letters and bars.
"We are glad to contribute in this way," said board chair Jill Harry. "Congratulations to all the recipients on a job well done."
MCHS Academic Boosters Club, Inc. (ABC) is a 501(c)3 organization with the mission of supplementing and enriching academic experiences and providing educational tools for Mariposa County High School students.

Academic letters can be sewn on sweaters or jackets or put on bulletin boards. The bars are added to the letters when students earn them in subsequent years.
