June 5, 2022 - Fresno, Calif. - Fresno Chaffee Zoo partnered with Fresno Housing for the first-ever “We Care Wednesdays.” Together, the organizations will give away 8,000 tickets to under-resourced children and families in rural communities throughout Fresno County.

On Thursday, May 26, the Zoo held a press conference to announce We Care Wednesdays. In attendance were officials from the greater Fresno area and Congressman, Jim Costa.

"I believe this is one of the best zoos not only in California but in the country and it just keeps getting better,” said Congressman, Jim Costa. “Fresno Chaffee Zoo has an incredible educational component with our schools and this partnership will only further its impact.”

“Our mission is to inspire passion for wildlife and to build community and connections throughout the Central Valley,” said Fresno Chaffee Zoo CEO, Jon Forrest Dohlin. “Because of this partnership with Fresno Housing, we are able to welcome even more families to the Zoo to learn about the amazing work we do here on a daily basis.”

We Care Wednesdays is made possible through a generous donation from United Security Bank. The tickets will be distributed through various organizations that serve families in surrounding Fresno communities. Families will be able to use the tickets starting June 8 through August 10.
