.SYNOPSIS...
Afternoon thunderstorms will be possible again today in the Sierra
Nevada, with another round of thunderstorms possible Saturday
afternoon. Above average temperatures continue today, and will get
warmer into the weekend. Afternoon highs may return back to near
normal by the second half of next week.

&&

.DISCUSSION...
Warming trend will continue across the entire forecast area today
as high pressure builds. Afternoon highs across the San Joaquin
Valley this afternoon will likely reach a few degrees high today
versus yesterday. Blended model guidance is showing highs
generally in the 101-104 degree range for today. Some instability
remains in place over the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada
for both this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon. This means a
chance of afternoon thunderstorms will continue for the Sierra
Nevada.

Afternoon highs continue to rise tomorrow as ridging builds over
California. NBM guidance is showing highs rise a couple more
degrees tomorrow, with highs in the 102-106 degree range forecast
in the SJV. Ensemble guidance shows high pressure strengthen even
further Sunday and Monday, which will likely be the hottest days
of the forecast period. Highs in the 103-107 degree range are
possible Sunday and Monday. A heat advisory may end up being
needed Saturday through Monday across portions of the San Joaquin
Valley and Coastal range. Some areas are borderline advisory level
as of this writing, so will hold off on the issuance of any heat
headlines. A trough of low pressure is forecast to enter the
Pacific Northwest by next Tuesday. Ensemble guidance is showing
this trough flattening and weakening the ridge pattern over the
California through the week. This means a cooling trend back to
near normal is conceivable by next Thursday/Friday.

&&

.AVIATION...
IFR or lower conditions are likely in and near showers and
thunderstorms in the Sierra Nevada after 18z Friday. Otherwise, VFR
conditions will prevail across the Central California Interior for
at least the next 24 hours.

.AIR QUALITY ISSUES...
On Friday June 24 2022... Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups in
