Yosemite National Park Reports Masks Now Required for Staff and Visitors in Federal Facilities

Below is our weekly mask wearing guidance:

  • Mariposa: High (was medium last week)

  • Tuolumne: High (was medium last week)

  • Madera: High (no change from last week)

This means mask wearing in federal facilities and enclosed public transportation is requiredfor staff, visitors, and others, regardless of vaccination status. On-duty employees in shared vehicles must also wear masks. This information applies to all facilities in Yosemite National Park, the El Portal Administrative Site, and the Mariposa office.

This also means that for the week of June 23 through June 30, business visitors are required to attest to their vaccination status in order to gain entry to NPS buildings.

If they are not fully vaccinated, they must provide a negative test result dated within the prior three days. The required Certificate of Vaccination form is attached; please get this form to business visitors coming to meet in NPS facilities in as far advance of their visit as possible. Please note that Volunteers-in-Parks and contractor interns are considered business visitors for purposes of this requirement and will need to carry the attestation formSignage referencing required vaccine attestation for contractor and business visitors should be posted in all NPS buildings that receive these types of visitors; there is still no requirement for recreational visitors to provide information about their vaccination status to gain entry to NPS buildings.

This information applies to all facilities in Yosemite National Park, the El Portal Administrative Site, and the Mariposa office.

Supervisors, please ensure everyone within your area of authority wears a mask inside federal facilities and in shared vehicles. Remember that N95 masks are available to employees who have completed training at El Portal (EP Warehouse), or the Voluntary Use of Respirator training on DOI Talent. The Safety Office has a limited supply of N95s for distribution.

If possible, please work with your employees to telework to limit the spread of COVID19.

Signs referencing required mask wearing should be added to all entrances of all federal facilities.

While no part of the park lies in Mono County, it is in the Low category (same as last week).

Our next update regarding mask requirements will be June 30.
