July 2, 2022 - SONORA, Calif. — While work continues to remove hazardous trees from the Hull Creek Campground, due to a series of unforeseen and uncontrollable events, the Hull Creek Campground will remain closed over the 4th of July Holiday weekend.
“We know this is an important location for many families in our area and deeply regret not being able to have this site open,” said Mi-Wok/Summit Acting District Ranger, Michael Jow. “The safety of our sites is of utmost importance and with the work still being done at the location, we just couldn’t in good faith make it available to the public.”
Thus far, crews working in the area have removed more than 160 hazardous trees, said Gary Cones, Timber Sales Administrator, Mi-Wok/Summit Ranger District.
Once logging operation are complete, it will take approximately two weeks to restore the site. Estimated reopening of campsites 1-15 is mid-July and remainder of campsites (16-23) August 1, Cones explained.
