Just four and a half months from now is Christmas in Coulterville, which in recent years has shrunk down to the Santa Parade and gift giving at the firehouse, the CCC Holiday dinner at the old schoolhouse and a chorale performance of the Gold Country Singers. The free holiday dinner is one of the biggest community gatherings of the year. It is a big undertaking by a handful of volunteers for the enjoyment of hundreds of families and individuals.
The dinner has been coordinated by the same two or three people for 4 straight years and WE NEED NEW BLOOD! Frankly, those who coordinated it, including myself, simply cannot do it again this year. The need for a few volunteers to step up and take charge organizing this year’s dinner is critical. Yes, we always have lots of volunteers on dinner day, but if a few volunteers don’t step up and take charge NOW, this year’s dinner will not happen. That’s a fact, not a threat.
The CCC simply cannot put on this year’s dinner without one or more folks stepping up and taking on the leadership of this important event. If not, this 30 year tradition is going to bite the dust and just be another piece of Coulterville’s history. If you would be interested in stepping up and taking this on, or, if another organization to which you belong would like to take over, the CCC would be willing to provide the schoolhouse.
