July 5, 2022 - Currently, 54 large fire and complexes have burned 2,692,500 acres in 10 states. Most of the activity is in Alaska where wildland firefighters and support personnel continue to work on 42 large firefighters credit nifcfires. Since January 1, 34,478 wildfires have burned 4,582,301 acres. This is the most acres burned in the past 10 years.

As we head into the hottest months of the year, stay up-to-date on weather, fire danger, and outlooks by visiting the Predictive Services website. Weather

Above normal temperatures and dry conditions will develop across the eastern half of Alaska, with isolated to scattered thundertorms likely. However, widespread smoke will continue to impact weather forecasts, especially north of the Alaska Range. Lingering dry and breezy conditions are likely across portions central and southern portions of the Great Basin, and scattered to numerous monsoonal thunderstorms are expected across eastern Arizona, the Colorado Rockies, and much of New Mexico into the Trans Pecos. Hot temperatures will spread across the southern and central Plains into the Midwest and Southeast, with relative humidity likely dropping below 30% across the southern and central Plains into Texas and possibly the Ozarks. Scattered thunderstorms will continue across the Southeast, with scattered strong to severe thunderstorms expected from southwest Montana through portions of the Midwest and into the Mid- Atlantic.
