July 7, 2022 - The National Weather Service Hanford Office reports high temperatures throughout Central California this afternoon will be two to four degrees warmer than yesterday afternoon.

Maximum temperatures across Central California Friday afternoon will be two to four degrees warmer than this afternoon.

By Saturday afternoon, high temperatures throughout Central California will be near normal for this time of year.

.SYNOPSIS...
A warming trend is expected today through Saturday. By Saturday
afternoon, high temperatures will be near normal for this time of
year. Triple digit heat may return to parts of the San Joaquin
Valley Sunday afternoon. Widespread triple digit heat is expected
in the San Joaquin Valley Monday afternoon. Triple digit heat is
likely in most of the San Joaquin Valley Tuesday afternoon.

.DISCUSSION...
The service area will remain sandwiched between cyclonic flow
aloft over the Eastern Pacific Ocean and anticyclonic flow aloft
over the Great Basin today through Friday. A trough of low
pressure will progress eastward over the Eastern Pacific Ocean
Friday night. This trough of low pressure should pass eastward
over Northern California Saturday. The trough of low pressure will
have little to no impact on the local weather. A warming trend is
anticipated today through Saturday. Maximum temperatures this
afternoon will be two to four degrees warmer than yesterday
afternoon. High temperatures Friday afternoon will be three to
five degrees warmer than this afternoon. By Saturday afternoon,
maximum temperatures will be near their typical values for the
first half of July. 

An anticyclone aloft over the Central United States will
retrograde westward late this weekend into early next week. By
Wednesday afternoon, this upper-level area of high pressure will
be centered near the Four Corners region. Monsoonal moisture may 
move northward along the periphery of this anticyclone aloft into 
the Sierra Nevada Wednesday afternoon, resulting in the 
possibility of a few thunderstorms. Triple digit heat could return
to parts of the San Joaquin Valley Sunday afternoon. Widespread 
triple digit heat is anticipated in the San Joaquin Valley Monday 
afternoon. Triple digit heat is likely in most of the San Joaquin 
Valley Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday afternoon. Here are 
probabilities of maximum temperatures of 102 degrees or higher for
locations in the San Joaquin Valley on Monday, July 11th, 2022:

Lemoore - 68%
Merced - 65%
Bakersfield - 63%
Madera - 63%
Visalia - 62%
Hanford - 62%
Delano - 58%
Porterville - 56%
Reedley - 55%

In fact, the probability of a maximum temperature of 105 degrees or
higher in Fresno on Monday, July 11th, 2022 is 51%. A Heat
Advisory may be required for the San Joaquin Valley Monday.
