Lake McClure before the current drought
July 22, 2015 - Peter Kampa, General Manager Lake Don Pedro Community Services District commented on the wells that were drilled in El Prado Park.
Mr. Kampa said "Unfortunately the two wells drilled in El Prado Park in Don Pedro will not be able to be used for emergency water supply for our customers.
When drilled, the initial combined water production of the wells was about 150 gallons per minute, which was perfect! But the water was SALTY! So much salt that we could not put this well water in our water system without very expensive, and very water wasteful treatment.
Also, when we pumped the wells over the past 5 days for a state required test, the water production of the wells dropped off to less than 50 gallons per minute.
So what's the next step? We are planning to drill a couple more test well sites in the next two weeks to find the additional 100 gallons per minute needed.
We will get this done, no doubt!
Stay tuned......"
