July 17, 2022 - MERCED- A 34-year-old man died in a motorcycle collision with a parked car on E. South Bear Creek Drive. Alcoholic intoxication is suspected as a contributing factor.

On Saturday, July 16th, at 6:38 P.M., Merced PD officers and emergency medical services responded to the 1100 block of E. South Bear Creek Drive for a vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a merced police department logoparked car.

EMS rendered medical attention to a 34-year-old and 27-year-old male that crashed into a vehicle that was legally parked along the curb. Officers discovered both were riding on same motorcycle.

The 34-year-old was transported to a local emergency room where he succumbed to his injuries. He was not wearing a motorcycle helmet. The decedent’s name is being withheld pending the notification of the family.

The 27-year-old was ground transported to an area trauma center for treatment. He is in serious but stable condition.

Officers suspect that alcohol was a contributing factor in the collision.
