Mariposa County Oak Fire Updates for Wednesday, July 27, 2022

July 27, 2022 - Seventy-nine large fires and complexes have burned 2,765,545 acres in 11 states. Four new large fires were reported yesterday. More than 8,100 wildland firefighters and firefighters credit nifcsupport personnel are assigned to incidents across the country. 

The Pacific Northwest, northern California, northern Great Basin and parts of the Northern Rockies will be very hot and dry with the potential for dry thunderstorms. Oklahoma, Texas, the Ozarks and the lower Mississippi Valley will continue to be very hot and dry. Homeowners and communities play a large role in fire safety. Take simple measures such as keeping streets and roads clear to fire engines can safely maneuver and residents can evacuate if needed. Make sure fire hydrants are visible and accessible. More importantly, clear flammable vegetation around structures, on large lots and along roadsides. Weather

Hot and dry conditions will continue from northern California through the Pacific Northwest, northern Great Basin, and into northern Rockies as upper-level ridging remains in place over the western United States. Temperatures will be 10-25°F above normal, with relative humidity in the single digits likely across the Inland Northwest, portions of northern California, and northern Great Basin and 15-25% west of the Cascades and in the northern Rockies. Isolated high-based showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop in south-central Oregon and central Wyoming, with possible development in the central Idaho mountains and far southwestern Montana. Breezy conditions are also possible in areas around southeastern Oregon. Monsoon thunderstorms will continue across much of the southern Great Basin, Southwest, and Colorado Rockies, with drier storms in the Sierra and western and central Nevada. Once again, hot, dry, and unstable conditions will continue across the Lower Mississippi Valley, Arkansas, the southern Plains and into eastern New Mexico, with thunderstorms likely from the Ohio Valley through the central Appalachians into the Mid-Atlantic and along the Gulf Coast.
