July 30, 2022 - Merced - On Thursday, July 28, 2022, Officer Jesus Lopez observed a silver Nissan driving northbound on North Parson’s Avenue. Officer Lopez conducted a traffic stop based on a vehicle code violation.

Officer Lopez contacted three individuals inside the vehicle. One of the passengers, Jalyl Slatton (18), was on county probation and open to search and seizure. Officer Lopez conducted a probation search and located a Ruger 9mm firearm. Officer Lopez also located marijuana in possession for sales. Luis Martinez (23) admitted ownership of the marijuana. Luis and Jalyl are documented gang members. They were both booked and charged for several gun, drug, and gang charges.
