Minimal fire activity was observed today. Smoldering and creeping, some interior islands continuing to burn out aggressively.

Firefighters continued to mop up heavy, down fuels and hot spots. Hazard trees are being fell while suppression repair is ongoing.

Outlook

Projected Incident Activity

12 Hours: Suppression repair efforts are underway in areas of the fire that are no longer posing a potential risk of escape. These repairs minimize potential soil erosion and impacts resulting from fire suppression activities. Fire crews, along with cooperating agencies, are working around the clock to repopulate the areas within the fire perimeter. There was no fire growth overnight and containment is at 80%. Crews continue to work around communities patrolling for hot spots and providing structure defense.

Conditions were sunny and slightly warmer today, but still dry over the incident. High temperatures ranged from the upper 70s to mid-80s on the ridges to the upper 80s to low 90s the valley bottoms. Minimum humidity values ranged from the upper teens across the lower elevations to the low 30s on the higher ridges. Winds were light and downslope in the valley this morning, but gusting to 10 mph across the highest ridgetops. Then, winds were west to northwest in the afternoon with gusts up to 17 mph.

Mostly clear conditions are expected tonight with moderate humidity recoveries across the incident. Mainly slope-driven winds across the low elevations, light easterly winds across the upper ridges. Friday, mostly sunny and still dry, with afternoon high temperatures similar to today (Thursday). Afternoon winds will shift to more northwesterly with gusts up to 15 mph.

Small pockets of intense heat are present along the northern and southern sections of the fire. Large pockets of scattered heat exist mainly on the west flank.
