MPD Parole Sweep 2

August 13, 2022 - Merced – Officers, Deputies and Parole Agents made several Arrests Thursday, August 11, 2022, during a county wide Parole compliance check.  

On Thursday, August 11, 2022, Officers with the Merced Police Department, The Merced Sheriff’s Department, The California Department of Corrections, State Parole, The Sheriff STAR team, MAGNET and Merced PD GVSU all worked to conduct compliance checks on Parolees in Merced County.

During the past two years many of these compliance checks were restricted because of the Covid 19 pandemic. Special Agents from the California Department of Corrections set up the compliance check operation throughout Merced County utilizing various agencies to ensure subjects on Parole are following their conditions of release. Upon checking approximately 20 residences of subjects on CDC Parole, Officers and Deputies made several arrests.

Gregory Reynoso (39), a known gang member on parole was located in the 2600 block of Cooper Ave. Reynoso was identified as a suspect in a shooting that occurred in Modesto, Ca several days earlier. As Merced PD Officers and Parole Agents tried to arrest him, he fled into a business. Officers were able to quickly catch him and arrest him without any further incident. Reynoso’s was booked into Merced County Jail for an outstanding warrant from Modesto and a violation of Parole.

Officers conducted a compliance check at the residence of Brian Bravo (26) in the 1100 block of Malibu Lane in Atwater. Bravo was found to be in possession of metal knuckles. Bravo was MPD Parole Sweeparrested for felony possession of a prohibited weapon and a parole violation. He was booked into Merced County Jail.

A check was also conducted at the residence of Jay Wedel (37) in the unit block of Castle Dr. in Atwater. Wedel was found in possession of firearm accessories including handgun magazines, handgun barrels and a holster. Wedel was arrested for a violation of his parole conditions and he was booked into jail.

Deputies from the Merced Sheriff Department and Parole Agents searched the residence of Douglas Lopez (38) in the 100 block of Judy Dr. Lopez was found to be in possession of a Hi-Point 380 handgun and Fentanyl Pills. Lopez was booked into the Merced County Jail.
