Cousin Jack’s Mariposa Evenings - brought to you by The Mariposa County Arts Council and its many fine sponsors – continues into its tenth weekend of thirteen, presenting, live in concert, Bagby Station on Friday, August 7, and Todd Novak & The Benny Hillbilleez on Saturday, August 8.

Bagby StationBagby Station

Denise Ludington, leader and songwriter of Bagby Station, is a conservationist with deep roots in Yosemite National Park and her songs reflect her experiences. After singing and playing solo for years in the area, she assembled a group – including other long time YNP workers - to bring forth a broader presentation of what could be described as California Folk. Bagby Station has been featured at Carter Ranch Music Festival and often play at local venues like The Hideout and The Yosemite Bug Hostel.

Todd N BHllblleezTodd Novak & The Benny Hillbilleez

The debut of Todd Novak & The Benny Hillbilleez at the Art Park Stage Saturday, has been one of the most eagerly anticipated shows of the season. This San Francisco group of skilled and seasoned industry professionals (featuring members of The Mermen and The Cowlicks) play a multi-genre mix of Surf, Rock’N’Roll, Country, SKA, Rock-A-Billy, Detective and TV/Movie music, all with an emphasis on twangy tremolo guitar, big beat drums, and a keen sense of humor. Their out-of-the-ordinary performance will stir up some fun nostalgia among babyboomers (remember “Wipe Out,” “Peter Gunn,” or “The Benny Hill Show?), while being extremely entertaining for all age groups.

All performances begin at 7 p.m. at the Mariposa County Art Park, located on Hwy. 140, between 4th and 5th Streets, in historic downtown Mariposa, CA. Free parking on 5th Street along the Creek Walkway to the Park, also providing handicapped access.

The shows are free to the public – tips for the performers will be solicited, encouraged, and appreciated.

The Mariposa Arts Council, sponsor of Cousin Jack's Mariposa Evenings, is funded in part by Mariposa County, the California Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
