October 10, 2022 - MERCED – The Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System (YARTS) is now operating its winter schedule for bus service running from Merced and Mariposa to Yosemite National Park. The Highway 140 service operates year-round but reduces the frequency of service to and from the Park after the summer season.

YARTS routes into Yosemite that originate in Sonora, Fresno, and Mammoth Lakes are seasonal in nature and operate only in the summer months. The Sonora and Fresno lines have concluded their 2022 service and the Mammoth Lakes route will wind down after October 15, 2022.

“Visiting to Yosemite in the winter is a much different experience than during the peak summer season,” said Christine Chavez, Transit Manager. “It is especially beautiful in the Park when it is snowing and the air is crisp. And when you ride YARTS you are able to enjoy the winter landscape without having to worry about driving your vehicle in inclement weather.”

Merced and Mariposa County residents are still eligible to receive free round-trip passes on YARTS through the end of year. Free passes are distributed on a first come, first served basis while supplies last.

Reservations for tickets during the winter season can be made on the YARTS website at: www.yarts.com. For more information about YARTS free passes, schedules, routes, or to book tickets, please visit www.yarts.com or call (877) 989-2787.
YARTS is a California Joint Powers Authority comprised of Merced, Mariposa, Tuolumne, Madera, and Mono Counties in partnership with Caltrans, Federal Highway Administration, National Park Service and the United States Forest Service. The Merced County Association of Governments provides administrative services and operational support for YARTS.
