Eugenia began working with Yosemite's dog handlers (YODOGS) in 2009 and participated with her dog Zulu in several high profile missions, including a search for remains of three drowning victims in the Merced River in 2011, a search for a suspected falling victim in the Yosemite Falls area in 2011, and a search for a missing aircraft near Vogelsang in 2013.
Eugenia was also an active member of the Napa County search and rescue team. She was qualified as a Type 1 area and cadaver dog handler, the highest level handler in the state of California, capable of overnight assignments in high elevation above 7000' and in inclement weather.
She was temporarily out of state in 2014, but was maintaining her qualifications with YOSAR and the California Rescue Dog Association, and the park was excited to have her back later this year.
Eugenia is fondly remembered by YOSAR as a spirited, fun loving, skilled member who consistently brightened the day of the people she worked with. She will be sorely missed.
