August 12, 2015 - CAL FIRE reports this morning that 16 active wildfires continue to burn in California, with more than 11,000 firefighters battling them. While yesterday crews made progress on several fires, the fast moving Jerusalem Fire continues to burn as tinder dry conditions fuel the fire.

Gusty winds are expected to continue across many parts of Northern California. The National Weather Service has issued a “Fire Weather Watch” along the Northern Sierra from the Tahoe Basin up to Modoc County as strong winds and low humidity will elevate the fire danger.

While temperatures this past week have been relatively mild, it’s the gusty winds and the dry conditions that continue to allow wildfires to grow rapidly. CAL FIRE is urging the public to be cautious outdoors. Even a single spark can quickly ignite into a wildfire and cause major damage. One Less Spark means One Less Wildfire.
