August 13, 2015 - CAL FIRE reports this morning that 14 active wildfires continue to burn in California, with 12,000 firefighters on the frontlines. Yesterday crews were able to contain new wildfires that had been burning for the past several weeks. The 2,300 Lowell Fire in Nevada County and the 5,700 acre Willow Fire in Madera County are both 100 percent contained.

Gusty winds are again forecasted across many parts of Northern California. The National Weather Service has issued a “Red Flag Warning” along the Sierra from the Mono County through the Tahoe Basin up to Modoc County and over to Siskiyou County. The warning is due to strong winds, with gusts up to 40mph, and low humidity. This combination along with the tinder dry conditions which will elevate the fire danger.

The public is urged to cautious outdoors, especially with Red Flag Warning conditions. Even a single spark can quickly ignite into a wildfire and cause major damage. One Less Spark means One Less Wildfire. Learn more at www.ReadyForWildfire.org.
