J.J.RymerCousin Jack’s Mariposa Evenings - brought to you by The Mariposa County Arts Council and its many fine sponsors – rolls out the second to last weekend of the 2015 season, presenting, live, in concert, J. J. Rymer on Friday, August 21, and Good Medicine on Saturday, August 22.

Singer/songwriter J. J. Rymer (pictured left), is no stranger to stages and venues all around Mariposa, including the Art Park, where over the last several years he’s performed his original material with bands Paper Cup, The James Lee Cult Revival and The Tenderloins.

The Orange County native has hundreds of songs in his catalogue, the best and most popular of which, he’ll be showcasing at this show. Backed up by a full band of old comrades coming up from Laguna Beach, as well as local guest artists, Rymer’s songs and hard driving, live performances have been compared to vintage Springsteen and Mellencamp.

Good Medicine was Cousin Jack’s favorite band and have played 23 of the 24 seasons of Mariposa Evenings; their appearances a yearly tradition. Their music has been described as “folk-a-delic,”a distinct California sound, mixing original songs with select, deep cut covers, entertaining audiences from the foothills to the coast for more than twenty-five years now.

Frank and Debbie Sipes (the core duo) each have an impressive musical pedigree (more on their web-site/Facebook page) as performers and recording artists, and will be performing with their full band (including Mark Albosta on drums, Jeffrey Hallock on amplified harmonica and Mariposa Evenings Producer, Ronnie Sweeting, on guitar), adding more electrified dynamics and extended improvisation to the group’s repertoire. All this topped off with Debbie’s famous rendition of “Amazing Grace” in the Cherokee language.

All performances begin at 7 p.m. at the Mariposa County Art Park, located on Hwy. 140, between 4th and 5th Streets, in historic downtown Mariposa, CA. Free parking on 5th Street along the Creek Walkway to the Park, also providing handicapped access.

The shows are free to the public – tips for the performers will be solicited, encouraged, and appreciated.

The Mariposa Arts Council, sponsor of Cousin Jack's Mariposa Evenings, is funded in part by Mariposa County, the California Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The MARIPOSA COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL, INC. is an incorporated not-for- profit organization, created to promote and support all forms of the cultural arts, for all ages, throughout Mariposa County.
