Soroptimist(Pictured l-r):  Soroptimists Dianne Fritz, Dotty Ducret and Karen Verdugo volunteering at the Gold Rush Dinner Dance, one of Soroptimist International of Mariposa’s annual fundraisers.

Soroptimist International of Mariposa is currently seeking women who want to make a difference in the lives of women and girls in our community and throughout the world. Soroptimist is an international organization formed by a network of women who volunteer their time and talents to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.

On the local level, Soroptimist of Mariposa awards three scholarships annually to graduating high school seniors to aid the students in continuing their education in order to reach their full potential. The Club also provides financial aid to head of household women who want to return to school to better their lives through the program titled “Live it Dream it”.  Soroptimist International of Mariposa supports women and girls in our community through various other projects such as sponsoring The Elegant Dress Closet, and donating funds to organizations such as Manna House, a non-profit organization that provides emergency food to all in need and the Mountain Crisis Safe House for victims of domestic violence.

The Club meets bi-monthly at noon at the Senior Center on the first and third Wednesday.

If you are interested in changing the lives of women and girls and/or have question you may contact President Patricia Wight at: (209) 742-7780, or email at: pwight@hotmail.com
