January 4, 2023 - The Fresno County Sheriff's Office reports the following. Narcotics detectives with the Special Investigations Task Force (SITF) have booked 23-year-old Pedro Miranda-Muro of Los Angeles into the Fresno County Jail on felony charges FCSO Muroof possession of drugs for sale.

On Tuesday morning, detectives patrolling the area of Interstate 5 and Highway 33 near Cantua Creek conducted a vehicle stop. During the detectives' interaction with the driver, Pedro Miranda-Muro, K-9 Willow alerted them to the odor of narcotics. Detectives discovered 11 pounds of pure Fentanyl powder and 1.5 pounds of Heroin inside his car. The Fentanyl's street value is approximately $230,000 and the Heroin is $12,000.

The suspect's bail would ordinarily be set at $225,000 for these charges, however, they qualified for 2020's COVID initiated "Zero Dollar Emergency Bail Rule," which Fresno County's presiding judges have chosen to keep in place. Therefore, Miranda-Muro was released after four hours in custody.
